Difficulty level: The 5 km trail itself consists of a mix of flat terrain as well as moderate and steeper climbs, and can be completed within 1.5 hours. There is also a small waterfall nearby that hikers can take a detour to enjoy a refreshing splash.
Ah Pek hill, part of the Bukit Putih forest reserve is a popular spot for hikers. You can find hikers there almost anytime throughout the day, from as early as 6.00 am till 6.00 pm.
Highlights: If you want to complete the full course to Level 6 and back, it would take about 1.5 hours or more, so it is good to bring with you a water bottle. A walking stick/ trekking pole is helpful as some parts of the trail could be slippery or muddy during the rainy season. If you want to enjoy the waterfall, make sure you remember to bring a change of clothes, towels etc. If you are bringing food for a picnic, please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish behind apart from your foot prints!
Things you should know: As there are many paths and sub-paths which can lead to different parts of the Bukit Putih reserve, please make effort to remember the path that you took, make use of your handphone to take snapshots along your trail so that you can trace back to the starting point if you get ‘lost’ somewhere.Go for the wider well-trodden tracks and avoid the narrower, leaves-covered tracks until you are familiar with the hills.
