Buy your tickets prior to your trip
While it’s possible to buy tickets at the counter on the day of your trip, it’s better to purchase them prior to your trip. The counter ticket only opens 30 minutes before the park opens, and there will be crowd to beat.
Purchasing your tickets online or through trusted travel agents ahead of your trip will save you time. Alternatively, you can also buy Disneyland tickets from convenience stores in Japan. Additionally, when you buy e-tickets via the Tokyo Disney Resort website, you will be able allowed free changes even at the last minute.
There are different ticket types offered by the park which you can choose depending on your preferences, priorities and budget.
▪️ Date specific ticket
This ticket allows you a guaranteed entry on the chosen date, and you may change the date online within the validity period of three months from purchase.
▪️ Open ticket
Entry is not guaranteed for open tickets, but they are valid for one whole year so the time constraint is less.
▪️ Late Pass
There are two options, Starlight Pass (available after 3pm on weekends and holidays) and After-6pm Pass (available on most weekdays after 6pm). Late passes are cheaper and a better option for people who are there for the parades and shows rather than the rides, because by this time the Fast Passes will already be gone.
▪️ Multi-day Pass
Ranging from 2 to 4-day, multi-day passes allow entry for consecutive days and are cheaper. It’s a great option for park enthusiasts who want to spend more time exploring the rides and attractions.
Plan your rides
With all the crowd, there’s bound to be very long queues everywhere, even to enter the park. It’s recommended that you arrive at the park at least 30 minutes before it opens. Once it’s time, quickly head to the first ride of your choice to get the Fast Pass.
It’s best to study to the park before your trip and have your target rides and attractions so you have your priorities straight and not waste time wandering around the park aimlessly.
Bring snacks and a water bottle
Navigating through a theme park requires lots of energy, and much like most other amusement parks, the food and drinks here are sold at a high price. It’s best to buy some snacks or quick lunch like sandwich and onigiri from the convenience store, or even pack your own lunch before coming especially if you have diet restrictions. And make sure to bring enough to last a day.
There are picnic areas around the park where you can rest and eat. If you don’t want to carry your food around, you can keep them in lockers. Note that drinks in cans and glass bottles are allowed in, as well as alcoholic drinks. Water fountains are available in the park so you can refill your bottle.
Buy the right souvenirs
Souvenirs at Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland and Disney Sea are limited editions and only available on the site, so you can’t find them elsewhere. Browsing through the gift shops for unique goodies and souvenirs is a part of the experience. While souvenirs are important for you to remember your trips by, but they can be pricey, especially at places like Disneyland.
Choose practical souvenirs that you can use for a long time instead of items that you would only wear inside the park. T-shirts and keychains are classics, but why not look for something that’s more distinctively Disneyland? For example, get something of Duffy, the mascot of Tokyo Disney Sea, that you can only find in the park.
Be careful not to overspend on souvenirs!
