Airports in Bali and Lombok are closed according to a travel advisory issued by Singapore’s Changi Airport as Mount Agung’s eruption grows in intensity.
“Due to the Mount Agung eruption, Bali and Lombok airports are closed until further notice.
“Passengers are advised to check changiairport.com, the iChangi app or with their airline for flight updates,” it said on its Facebook page, Monday.
On Sunday, Reuters reported that the volcano’s eruption sent a plume of volcanic ash and steam more than 6,000 metres into the sky.
Mount Agung last erupted in 1963, killing more than 1,000 people and razing several villages.
Malaysia Airlines also announced that it will be cancelling all flights between Kuala Lumpur and Denpasar-Bali on Monday (Nov 27).
“The airline is monitoring the situation closely and will adjust its flight operations into and out of Ngurah Rai International Airport when necessary,” it said.
