Global travel search engine Skyscanner recently revealed the best time to book for the top 10 most searched destinations by travellers in Malaysia. This is based on three years’ worth of research and data analysis.
Skyscanner marketing manager for Malaysia and Singapore, Pamela Knaggs said that Malaysian travellers are early birds when planning their holidays; in fact, the data reveals that they are the earliest planners globally.
This is good because the best time for Malaysian travellers to enjoy the cheapest flights is on average 19 weeks before the actual travel dates. July and December are the most expensive periods to travel in, but November is one of the cheapest. And if you plan your trip at the right time, you can save up to 20%.
The cheapest months to travel were also revealed for the top 10 destinations searched by Malaysian travellers.
European destinations: The best time to book your flight to France is 18 weeks in advance and the cheapest month to travel is November, which translates to savings of 11.3%. The best time to book your flight to the Netherlands is also 18 weeks earlier, with the cheapest month to travel being February (savings of 11.7%). For Britain, book your flight 19 weeks in advance and travel in November (9.8%).
East Asian region: It is best to book your flight to South Korea 12 weeks ahead and travel in September (savings of 12.1%); while for Taiwan, the best time to book is 19 weeks in advance, with October being the cheapest month to travel (11.3%); and for Hong Kong, book 16 weeks earlier and travel in June (14.2%).
Asean countries: The best time to book tickets to Indonesia is 19 weeks in advance and the cheapest month to travel is April (10.7%); while for Singapore, it is best to book four weeks in advance and travel in April (19.9%). For Thailand, it is best to book 20 weeks in advance and travel in September (19.7%); while for Vietnam, it is best to book 17 weeks in advance and travel in September (22.3%).
