KUANTAN: Having watched the blockbuster film Jurassic World and yearning to have a real feel of dinosaurs?
Head over to the Lao Zi temple along Jalan Kuantan-Sungei Lembing.
There are five different kinds of life-size dinosaurs awaiting visitors, including a giant T-Rex, and an ape man.
The mini pre-historic park was the idea of temple’s owner Kui Fook Weng.
Kui said the project took them almost six months to do and a cost of some RM60,000.
“Early last year, my father dreamt of the terrestrial reptiles.
“He told us about it before deciding to build several in the orchard area since there is ample space.
“We thought this is a good idea to attract more tourists,” he told StarMetro.
Kui said religious tourism was gaining momentum and could help to draw in the crowd and spur the tourism sector with unique and out of this world attractions.
He said sculptor V.B. Kumar and his team were paid to complete the task using available documented records of the six species of dinosaurs.
“We want to create a surrealistic feel for visitors so that they can talk about it and share with others,” he said.
The temple is famed for its Golden Dragon – said to be the longest in the world – and the 7m high replica of Lao Zi.
The Malaysia Books of Record has recognised it as “The Longest Dragon Statue” in the country.
Every year, some 100,000 visitors, including those from Thailand, Myanmar and Singapore came to pay homage to Lao Zi – the founder of Taoism.
