During the time, Mallombasi Muhammad bakir Daeng Mattawang Karaeng Bonto Mangape or known as Sultan Hasanuddin has signed over the fort as part of the the peace treaty. This fort origin name was Ujung Pandang and after the Dutch occupied the fort, they changed it to Fort Rotterdam. This fort has a nice area to wander around and explore. There’s an area close to the entrance where you can climb a bit to enjoy the view of Losari Beach. Inside the fort, there’s a museum called La Galigo Museum.
4. Classic Somba Opu Sultan’s fort
At the same period with Fort Rotterdam, there was a following signing session between the Sultanate of Gowa and the Netherlands called Bungaya Agreement in 1667. This makes the Somba Opu fort became the royal quarters for the king. But this fort is less well maintained compared to Fort Rotterdam. When you arrive there, you will see a two-storey museum and traditional houses.
