Kunming is best known as the capital of Yunnan province. With a history that dates back more than 1,300 years, it offers tranquil lakes and some striking temples, including the Golden Temple and those found at the Dragon Gate scenic area.
What to expect at the Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archway The Golden Horse Archway is located around 30 meters from the Jade Rooster Archway. The two archways are 12 meters tall and 18 meters wide. Both of the archways are decorated with exquisite patterns and overhanging eaves. Each end of the eaves of the Jade Rooster Archway is decorated with a painted wooden phoenix sculpture. Stone Forest in Kunming is divided into 7 scenic areas; the most popular one is the Stone Forest Scenic Area (Great & Lesser Stone Forest). Sightseeing buses are running in this Scenic Area. Besides, Naigu Stone Forest Scenic Area (8km), Feilong Waterfall Scenic Area (Dadieshui Waterfall) (28km), and Chang Lake Scenic Area (23km) are also worth paying a visit.
