Malacca’s growing cafe culture and brunch-style food trend have seen a huge number of quaint coffee shops and trendy restaurants mushrooming everywhere in the heritage town. After a tiring day of walking around town and checking out the historical sites, why not take a break at one of these artsy cafes that are worth a post (or more) on your Instagram.
- Calanthe Art Cafe And Restaurant
This beautiful green cafe is nestled in the midst of Jonker Walk, making it hard to miss. Calanthe Art Cafe is the only cafe not just in Malacca, but in the whole of Malaysia, that combines different types of coffee roasted in each of the country’s 13 states. As the name suggests, this place also puts various artworks, paintings and vintage collectibles on display. It’s the perfect place to wind down and escape the Jonker Walk crowd.
- The Coffee Jar
Located in the heritage alley of Jalan Hang Jebat, this hole-in-the-wall is a pleasant surprise. The Coffee Jar is owned and run by a couple who roast their own beans in small batches to maintain the quality and freshness. Specializing in espresso, enjoy your coffee at your own pace in peace as the cafe is tucked away from the busy streets and tourist attractions.
- The Daily Fix
One of, if not the most popular and aesthetically stunning cafes in Malacca, The Daily Fix is strategically located in the heart of Jonker Street. In case you miss it, this cafe is housed at the back of a heritage building and hidden behind Next KK Sdn Bhd souvenir shop. Don’t miss out on trying their signature pandan gula melaka pancakes. Being a famous place, The Daily Fix is often packed especially during the weekends, but the waiting time will definitely be worth it.
