You can marry a dead person in France!
In France, you can legally married a deceased body which is normal for them but not to the rest of the world. The reasons behind it are sentimental and historical. It all started with war widows marrying heroes fallen a short time before during WWI. A simple wedding ceremony is held where the bride or the groom stands beside the photo of their future husband/wife. The wedding vows “I do” is replaced with “I did” while the sentence “Till death do us part” is eliminated.
